Sal Cape Verde is amazing, the only thng that spoils it are the people who moan about anything and everything. Friendly locals, great bars, cheap drinks, lovely beaches, lots of sun, no stress and the Hotel Riu Funana is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. What more could you want.

I visited Sal Cape Verde in 2014 and I must say it's one of the best holidays I've ever had. The destination and the hotel are fantastic, we even ventured into Santa Maria where we had nights out at the local reggae bars and mingled with the locals.
I spent quite a lot on the trips but thats because I paid for two people and we went on a few, the only thing I will be doing different is trying the trips through the locals rather then Thompsons. The hotel is very clean, the food is fantastic and the staff at all the restaurants and bars are very friendly and polite.
The pools are very big and the bar in the pool is a very good idea, I love the way you can use both hotels pools, shops and restaurants. You always see Riu staff cleaning and gardening keeping it respectable for the guests, rooms are cleaned everyday and if your lucky you will get gifts left on your bed made and shaped with your towels and spare sheets.
Because I enjoyed every part of my holiday in 2014 Ive booked another for 2015.. See you soon Cape Verde #NOSTRESS

I love love love sal and the Riu garopa/funana. Friendly staff, clean, great food (which as a coeliac is not always easy to find), great entertainment shows in the evenings.....I literally cannot fault it after 3 visits with a fourth planned for September. Just as an FYI, I didn't particularly like the riu karamboa on Boa Vista. It has a totally different feel and I didn't think it was as friendly or inviting.
You must go and see for yourself :)
